Cultural and museum educator for remembrance work (m/f/x)

Your Tasks:

  • You develop and implement pedagogical and methodological concepts to enable young people and teachers to critically engage with the violent past.
  • You will develop and accompany a systematization process to structure the pedagogical and methodological work. You will document your progress and results in written or audiovisual form.
  • You will develop a cultural concept for the House of Remembrance, particularly with regard to memorial days.
  • You will work on new concepts for the museum/memorial house and traveling exhibitions, including curatorial activities.
  • You will assist with the care and guidance of visitors and coordinate educational activities with schools and lecturers.
  • You will be responsible for the proper spending and administration of funds on site in accordance with donor guidelines and AGIAMONDO specifications. You will work in partnership with colleagues from the partner organization.

Your Profile: 

  • You have a degree in cultural or museum education, alternatively a Master's degree in education, sociology, Latin American studies or a similar field.
  • You have at least two years of experience in the development and implementation of concepts, in the field of cultural design and organization, ideally in the context of a house of remembrance or a similar cultural project.
  • Ideally, you already have experience in working with different milieus, such as urban and indigenous youth.
  • You speak fluent Spanish and good English.
  • You have a valid driver's license.
  • You are an EU citizen or Swiss national and identify with the goals and concerns of church development and peace work.

Responsible and Challenging 

AGIAMONDO e.V. is the personnel service of German Catholics for development cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service we offer professionals the opportunity for meaningful service in cooperation with local development actors. The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is a personnel program for violence prevention and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. It works for a world in which conflicts are settled without violence. Together with church and civil society partner organizations in Guatemala, AGIAMONDO aims to contribute to civil conflict transformation there and to the sustainable equitable development of the country through peacebuilding measures.

CALDH is a major NGO dedicated to strategic litigation, empowerment and addressing the violent past in Central America. The aim is to give young people a critical perspective and encourage them to face up to the challenges of the present. An essential part of the work involves dealing with racism, colonial heritage and the oppression of women.

The House of Remembrance in Guatemala City serves as the heart of the organization. It not only functions as an exhibition space, but is increasingly developing into a cultural center for various target groups. The house is an important reference in the field of remembrance work in Guatemala and offers young people and young adults opportunities for active participation.
