Responsible and Challenging

AGIAMONDO is the personnel service of German Catholics for development cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service (CPS), we offer development workers a meaningful role working with local development agents. The CPS is a personnel programme for peace-building and the prevention of violence in crisis and conflict regions. It sets out to promote a world in which conflicts are settled without violence. Working with church-related and civil-social partner organisations in Cameroon, AGIAMONDO aims to make a contribution towards civil conflict management and the sustainable and equitable development of the country through peace-building measures.

The Comité Diocésain de Développement et des Activités Sociales (CODAS/Caritas) de Ngaoundéré is the body of the diocese Ngaoundéré responsible for pastoral-social action. CODAS/Caritas is divided into 5 departments (Education, Health, Rural Development, Justitia et Pax and Caritas) and works across the diocese to improve people's access to education, health, justice, adequate living conditions, resources and basic infrastructure.

The diocese of Ngaoundéré, which geographically covers the province of Adamaoua, is home to a multitude of peoples with various religious backgrounds. The most significant are Islam and Christianity, as well as a number of natural religions. The education programme places special emphasis on the education of girls and women without, however, neglecting boys and young men.

The site is located in north-eastern Cameroon in a high rainfall zone and is considered safe. In your free time, you can make excursions to the diverse natural attractions and to historical and cultural places such as the Sultan's Palace of Ngaoundéré and other palaces. Even though the city is in a rural area, basic medical care is available and it is easily accessible by road, the national rail network or by air.
