AGIAMONDO is the personnel service of the German Catholics for Development Cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service (CPS) we offer development workers a meaningful role working with local development agents. The CPS is a personnel programme for peace-building and the prevention of violence in crisis and conflict regions. It sets out to promote a world in which conflicts are settled without violence. Working with church-related and civil-social partner organisations in El Salvador, AGIAMONDO aims to make a contribution towards civil conflict management and the sustainable and equitable development of the country through peace-building measures.

To consolidate existing approaches to remembrance work and to promote networking in the Diocese of San Vicente, for our partner organisation, the Caritas Diocese of San Vicente, we are looking for an

Your new role

In line with its episcopal mission, Caritas seeks to drive forward remembrance work in the San Vicente Department and anchor this within the communities. The region has been affected by violence and displacement in the internal armed conflict for many years. Groups of survivors have organised themselves and are demanding justice and reparations.
In the San Vicente Department, there are various community-level initiatives striving towards rigorous remembrance work. The Catholic Church is very committed to supporting these. Through your support, you will help to expand and professionalise remembrance work and to consolidate existing approaches.

Specifically, you will carry out the following tasks:

  • You will support Caritas in identifying the existing remembrance work initiatives at community level in the San Vicente Department, promoting their advancement and facilitating networking between the groups.
  • You will design educational programmes for different target groups in this thematic area and implement these programmes.
  • You will enhance the existing approaches to remembrance work conceptually and support networking between these.
  • You will support groups of survivors and assist them in their methods of processing and in their struggle for justice, reparations and the protection of fundamental human rights.
  • You will ensure the proper disbursement and administration of funds locally in accordance with the donor guidelines and AGIAMONDO specifications. In doing so, you will work in partnership with Caritas.


Your profile

  • You have completed a university degree as an educator, social scientist, ethnologist or in a comparable humanities/social sciences subject.
  • You have experience in remembrance work (political education work on the topic of the culture of remembrance) with young people and/or adults, ideally acquired in a Latin American context.
  • You have knowledge of human rights-based work and supporting victims of human rights violations.
  • Experience in theatre work and/or other artistic fields is desirable.
  • You communicate fluently in Spanish, verbally and in writing. You hold a valid driver’s licence and drive regularly.
  • You are an EU or Swiss citizen and, as a member of the Catholic Church, you identify with the goals and concerns of church development and peace work.
