AGIAMONDO e.V.is the personnel service of the German Catholics for Development Cooperation. The Civil Peace Service (CPS) offers development workers a meaningful role working with local development agents. The CPS is a personnel programme for peace-building and the prevention of violence in crisis and conflict regions. It sets out to promote a world in which conflicts are settled without violence. Working with church-related and civil-social partner organisations in Timor-Leste, AGIAMONDO aims to make a contribution towards civil conflict management and the sustainable and equitable development of the country through peace-building measures.
The position is with the partner organization Centro Nacional Chega! I.P. (CNC) in Dili. The CNC is a public institution that promotes the implementation of the recommendations of the Commission for Reception, Truth and Reconciliation in East Timor. It is committed to promoting transitional justice, recognising victims and coming to terms with the violent past.
Universities play a central role in this, as they anchor topics such as human rights and the culture of remembrance in academic teaching, promote social dialogue and strengthen the ability of young people to actively work for peace and justice. By teaching critical thinking and peace-building skills, they can become important drivers of inclusive development and sustainable social change.
