AGIAMONDO is the personnel service of the German Catholics for Development Cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service (CPS) we offer development workers a meaningful role working with local development agents. The CPS is a personnel programme for peace-building and the prevention of violence in crisis and conflict regions. It sets out to promote a world in which conflicts are settled without violence. Working with church-related and civil-social partner organisations in South Sudan, AGIAMONDO aims to make a contribution towards civil conflict management and the sustainable and equitable development of the country through peace-building measures.

To provide training and support to local staff in developing peacebuilding content and maintaining technical capacity of the  Catholic Radio Network (CRN), we are looking for a

Radio and Programme Manager, Juba, South Sudan

                    

 

Your new role

The nine stations of the Catholic Radio Network (CRN) reach about four million people in South Sudan. The local language broadcasts address issues and concerns that directly affect the communities. In addition to broadcasting peace messages, the programme includes expert talks, discussions with listeners, and people sharing their own experiences on the radio.
Very specifically, the programmes are intended to reach community members who have experienced decades of civil war and isolation to convey a positive attitude towards life and an environment of participation. The radio is thus an important source of information for following the current situation and remaining in contact with other regions of the country.

Specifically, you will carry out the following tasks:

  • You will conduct training and further education for the coordinators of the CRN radio stations in the field of project management.
  • You will work with the CRN Director to identify technical needs for annual programs and budget development.
  • You will participate in programming processes and develop peacebuilding content.
  • You will conduct feasibility studies and identify funding gaps and support further resource mobilization and fundraising for the CRN and its member radio stations.
  • You will promote process-oriented monitoring of the exchange of data and information between CRN and the various radio stations and are committed to the expansion of the CRN network.
  • You are responsible for the proper disbursement and administration of funds on site in accordance with the sponsor guidelines and AGIAMONDO specifications in close collaboration with the CRN.

Your profile

  • You have a university degree in media communications, project management or comparable studies as well as several years of professional experience in this field.
  • You possess strong social and communication skills, enjoy working as part of a team and show initiative and a talent for improvisation.
  • They have a high tolerance for frustration in decision-making processes and are willing to face the challenges of limited resources and potential safety constraints.
  • You are fluent in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic is advantageous.
  • You are an EU or Swiss citizen, identify with the goals and concerns of the church-based development and peace-building work and look forward to working in a Christian-oriented organisation.

Currently, some of our development workers are working from home offices. We will decide whether and when development workers can work on the ground on projects again on a case-by-case basis, in a responsible manner and in consultation with our partners.
