Your new role

In Kenya, religious tensions and mutual loss of trust are increasingly becoming a reality. Along religious lines, Kenyan society is increasingly experiencing division. These developments can become the breeding ground for violence with a religious character.

Here, the Catholic Church has the mission to create a peaceful relationship with the followers of other religions.

IRDIS stands for the formation of religious leaders and clergy through academic programs at Tangaza University College that focus on the need for peace between religions. In addition, IRDIS implements outreach programs to advance practical work in IRD and peacebuilding.

In the continuation of the cooperation, the priority will be to strengthen the capacities of IRDIS internally as well as in outreach programs in the areas of trauma work and transitional justice. Likewise, previously developed content in the areas of gender and IRD will be consolidated. 

Specifically, you will carry out the following tasks:

• Development of didactic materials in the areas of interreligious dialogue, trauma work and transitional justice and implementation of trainings in these areas.
• Collaboration in the field of further training of staff and multipliers in the areas of trauma work and transitional justice as well as gender and peacebuilding. 
• Expansion of training capacities for outreach programs in the field of IRD and peacebuilding.
• Consolidation of knowledge management and quality assurance of interventions (APM&E).
• Properly disburse and manage funds in the field according to donor guidelines and AGIAMONDO requirements. In doing so, they work in partnership with Mafr and IRDIS.

Your profile

• You have a Master's degree in a relevant field e.g. peace and conflict studies, religious studies, psychology or social sciences.
• You bring experience in international IRD work and have already worked in a university context. Previous experience with gender-specific programs is desirable.
• You have practical experience in trauma and peace work and are familiar with methods of peace-oriented education and the development of teaching, educational and communication materials.
• You possess a Class B driver's license and are business fluent in English. Knowledge of French is desirable. 
• You are a citizen of the EU or Switzerland, belong to a Christian church and identify with the goals and concerns of church development and peace work.
