Responsible and challenging
AGIAMONDO e.V. is the personnel service of German Catholics for development cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service, we offer professionals the opportunity for meaningful service in cooperation with local development actors. The Civil Peace Service (ZFD) is a personnel program for violence prevention and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. It is committed to a world in which conflicts are resolved without violence. Together with church and civil society partner organizations in Uganda, AGIAMONDO aims to make a contribution to civil conflict resolution and sustainable, equitable development in the country through peace-building measures.
In northern Uganda, access to land and resources is a particular challenge. The region is suffering from the consequences of violent conflicts, environmental degradation due to climate change and continuing population growth, which is putting even more pressure on the limited resources available. Vulnerable groups in particular, including women, are dependent on agriculture in the wetlands to secure their livelihoods.
Facilitation for Peace and Development (FAPAD) is committed to the protection of wetlands and the development of conflict-sensitive alternative livelihoods. The organisation also promotes the participation of women in decision-making processes within local networks. With many years of experience in the region, FAPAD is a recognised partner in the areas of conflict transformation and environmental peace work.
