Social Scientist for Land and Natural Resource Conflict Transformation (m/f/x)
Your tasks
- You develop and facilitate measures for the peaceful transformation of land and natural resource conflicts, with a particular focus on empowering women, youth, orphans, and persons with disabilities to effectively advocate for and protect their rights and interests.
- You build the capacities of partner organisation staff as well as traditional, governmental, and civil society stakeholders in conflict transformation, mediation, dialogue facilitation, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), and gender-responsive approaches.
- You support processes aimed at strengthening community land rights and assist local stakeholders in promoting equitable and non-discriminatory access to land and natural resources.
- You advance Environmental Peacebuilding approaches and raise awareness of the interconnections between environmental change, natural resource use, climate change, and conflict dynamics.
- You support the organisational development of Children’s Chance International (CCI), particularly in the areas of fundraising, knowledge management, networking, and results-oriented programme development.
- You are responsible for the proper utilisation and administration of local project funds in accordance with donor regulations and AGIAMONDO guidelines. In doing so, you work in close partnership with colleagues from the partner organisation.
Your profile
- You hold a university degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Social Sciences, Political Science, Social Work, International Development, or a related field.
- You possess sound knowledge of land and natural resource conflicts, land rights and land governance, as well as issues at the intersection of environment, climate, and peacebuilding.
- You bring practical experience working with marginalised population groups, particularly women, young people, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable communities.
- You have experience in organisational development, fundraising, knowledge management, and/or network building.
- You have practical expertise in conflict transformation, mediation, dialogue facilitation, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
- You are fluent in English and hold a valid driving licence with practical driving experience.
- You are a citizen of an EU Member State or Switzerland and identify with Christian values as well as the objectives and principles of faith-based development cooperation and peacebuilding.

Children’s Chance International (CCI Uganda) is committed to empowering marginalised communities, promoting sustainable livelihoods, and preventing violence in Northern Uganda. The organisation works closely with rural communities, traditional leaders, and government stakeholders, with a particular focus on advancing equitable access to land and natural resources for women, youth, and other vulnerable groups.
In response to increasing land and resource-related conflicts, CCI Uganda seeks to strengthen its work in the fields of conflict transformation, mediation, land governance, and Environmental Peacebuilding. The CPS professional will support both the technical development of programme activities and the organisation’s institutional development, particularly in the areas of fundraising, knowledge management, networking, and results-based management.
As this is a newly established position, it offers considerable scope for innovation, initiative, and the joint further development of the organisation.
Your place of residence and work will be Lira, in Northern Uganda. The city offers basic infrastructure, shopping facilities, primary healthcare services, as well as a range of leisure and sports opportunities. From Lira, you will work closely with rural communities, traditional leaders, and government stakeholders throughout the region.
