Trauma Educator for Psychosocial Peacebuilding (m/f/x)
Your tasks
You contribute your expertise in trauma-informed and psychosocial support to the further development of assistance services for families of missing persons, fallen soldiers, returned prisoners of war, and demobilized veterans.
You strengthen the professional capacities of psychologists, social workers, and other staff members through coaching, peer case consultations, capacity-building measures, and knowledge transfer.
You develop and support a Training of Trainers (ToT) programme for multipliers, ensuring that psychosocial support can be sustainably embedded within local communities.
You promote the establishment of peer support structures and community-based support services that connect people facing challenging life situations with one another.
You strengthen cooperation with civil society and public-sector actors and support the development of effective referral and support mechanisms.
You facilitate processes of organisational learning, quality assurance, and the sustainable transfer of methods and expertise to local partner organisations.
You are responsible for the proper allocation and management of financial resources on site in accordance with donor regulations and AGIAMONDO guidelines. In doing so, you work in close partnership with colleagues from the partner organisation.
Your profile
- You hold a Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Trauma Pedagogy, or a related field.
- You have several years of professional experience in psychosocial support and possess solid expertise in trauma-informed approaches. Experience in grief counselling, ambiguous loss, crisis intervention, or psychosocial work with war-affected populations is considered an asset.
- You have experience in capacity development and have designed and facilitated training programmes, professional development initiatives, or learning processes for professionals, volunteers, or organisations.
- You work effectively in intercultural and multidisciplinary teams and are skilled at building and maintaining professional and respectful cooperation with partner organisations, government authorities, and civil society actors.
- You are fluent in English and able to communicate confidently in professional and negotiation settings. Proficiency in German is required. Knowledge of Ukrainian is considered an advantage.
- You demonstrate emotional resilience and a reflective approach to working with challenging topics, and you have established strategies for self-care and professional self-reflection.
- You hold a valid Category B driving licence and have sufficient driving experience.
- You are a citizen of an EU member state or Switzerland and identify with Christian values as well as the goals and mission of church-based peacebuilding and development cooperation.

AGIAMONDO e. V. is the personnel service of the German Catholic community for development cooperation. Through the Civil Peace Service (CPS), we offer professionals the opportunity to engage in meaningful service in collaboration with local development actors.
The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is a programme for violence prevention and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions worldwide. For many years, CPS has supported civil society organisations in partner countries in developing non-violent approaches to conflict resolution, strengthening human rights, and assisting communities affected by trauma. The work of CPS is based on partnership, trust, and long-term commitment. Professionals contribute their expertise, learn from local experience, and help strengthen structures that promote peaceful coexistence.
Caritas-Spes Ukraine is a faith-based organisation that supports people who are particularly affected by the consequences of war. Together with a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the development of sustainable psychosocial support services for families of missing persons, fallen soldiers, returned prisoners of war, and demobilised veterans. In doing so, you will strengthen local capacities, promote societal resilience, and contribute to social cohesion and peacebuilding.
Your duty station will be the "Resilient Hearts" Centre for Psychological Reconstruction in Oleksandrivka, located in the Zhytomyr region of Ukraine. There, you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team from Caritas-Spes Ukraine and support the provision of psychosocial assistance to families affected by war. The position includes travel to regional project locations within Ukraine.
The role is based in a dynamic security environment and requires flexibility, resilience, and strict adherence to security protocols. The duty station offers a nature-oriented working environment and is suitable for individuals or couples, but not for families with children. Due to the regular contact with people experiencing severe stress and trauma, strong self-care practices and a willingness to engage in professional supervision are essential requirements for this position.
